Rockefeller Institute to Host Reception Celebrating Year-Long Exhibition of SUNY Art

Albany, NY — The Rockefeller Institute of Government will showcase a selection of art from faculty and student artists across the SUNY system, beginning July 8, 2019. The exhibition will feature 30 works in a variety of media, ranging from textile and metal sculpture, to painting and photography. A total of 16 artists from eight SUNY schools will be represented.

“The Rockefeller Institute is proud to host this impressive and diverse collection of art from across the SUNY system,” said Rockefeller Institute President Jim Malatras. “This is both a celebration of the incredible talents of our community and a reminder of the importance of creativity and humanity in all the work that we undertake. We thank the artists for contributing their works and encourage the public to join us for the opening reception.”

A reception celebrating the artists and their work will be held at the Institute on Tuesday, July 9, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. RSVP here.

The works will be on exhibit for a full year, and will provide a backdrop for discussions and other events relating to the important role of arts and humanities education in New York State.

The exhibition will be one of several year-long SUNY art showcases located at SUNY Plaza, the Chancellor’s residence, SUNY Global, and Governor Andrew Cuomo’s office in Washington, D.C.

The works on display at the Institute can also be previewed at rockinst.org/suny-art.

The showcase is an important opportunity for student and faculty artists to gain exposure and network with the broader arts community.
