Senior Policy Advisor, Office of Governor Matthew Meyer
Romain Alexander is a senior policy advisor in the Office of Governor Matthew Meyer. Romain has over 35 years of progressive leadership experience in state and municipal government.
Romain’s primary focus is on developing and integrating innovative strategies to reduce gun violence in the State of Delaware. His work is centered on identifying the potential predictors of being involved in gun violence and developing a data-driven system to provide the proper wrap-around services for individuals and families affected by gun violence.
In his role he has assisted with the introduction of several major pieces of gun legislation which include the assault weapon ban, permit to purchase, ban of firearms on schools/college campuses, ban of ghost guns, bump stock ban, prevent straw purchases, ban of firearms at polling places, and raised the age to purchase most firearms from age 18 to 21.
He played a vital part in helping to establish the Office of Gun Violence Prevention and Community Safety a coordinated statewide effort to address gun violence and promote safer communities across Delaware.
Romain also serves on the board of End Community Violence Now a grass roots non-profit organization whose mission is to develop a unified community gun violence reduction ecosystem by coordinating communities, philanthropic organizations, healthcare systems, and government agencies to address the issue of community gun violence.
Romain received his BA in personnel administration from the University of Kansas.
