Under New Institute Leadership, the Training Program for Local Officials Sees 35 Percent Increase in Participation
Albany, NY — Thirteen municipal clerks from across New York State graduated from the New York Municipal Clerks Institute (NYMCI) on Wednesday, July 18, at the conclusion of the annual Certified Municipal Clerk Training at the Rockefeller Institute of Government.
The intensive four-day training included 38 participants, an increase of 35 percent from the previous year. To graduate from NYMCI and become a Certified Municipal Clerk, participants must complete 120 credit hours of rigorous coursework offered over the course of three years. The program is accredited by the International Institute of Municipal Clerks.
Dr. Greg Rabb was appointed executive director of NYMCI in March, and moved quickly to make this year’s training a success.
“This year’s Certified Municipal Clerk Training has provided valuable, challenging, and comprehensive educational sessions to enhance the skills of the state’s frontline government administrators,” said Rockefeller Institute President Jim Malatras. “That success is thanks to the hard work of NYMCI Executive Director Greg Rabb, Rockefeller Institute Chief of Staff Heather Trela, and all the excellent instructors who shared their expertise. Congratulations to the graduates and to all the clerks who have devoted time to furthering their skills and knowledge to better serve the public.”
