The Rockefeller Institute Announces Dr. Rhianna Rogers as the Ernest Boyer Presidential Fellow

Fellowship Will Allow Rockefeller Institute to Connect Students across SUNY Campuses

 

Albany, NY —  The Rockefeller Institute of Government announces the appointment of Dr. Rhianna Rogers, associate professor of interdisciplinary studies at SUNY Empire State College, as the inaugural Ernest Boyer Presidential Fellow at the Institute. As a fellow, Dr. Rogers will develop new ways of using technology to increase conversation among students across SUNY campuses. She will also lead the Center for Law & Policy Solutions (CLPS) internship program in Spring 2020.

At SUNY Empire, Dr. Rogers is an associate professor in the Division of Arts & Humanities’ Historical Studies Department, and teaches in the Division of Social and Behavioral Sciences, the School for Graduate Studies, and International Programs. She has been a part of a variety of SUNY-wide initiatives related to her expertise in Open Educational Resources (OER) development and implementation and she is the inaugural coordinator of Interdisciplinary and Multidisciplinary Studies for the college. Dr. Rogers received a certificate in ethnic studies, a BA in social sciences (anthropology major and history minor), an MA in history, and a PhD in comparative studies (anthropology, history, and linguistics concentrations) from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton.

She has the ability to further connect the students across the state.”

“Dr. Rogers has been an invaluable member of the Empire State College family, and an important leader within the SUNY community,” said SUNY Empire State College President Jim Malatras. “As the Ernest Boyer Presidential Fellow, Dr. Rogers will bring her expertise in interdisciplinary education to expand the Institute’s reach, and bolster its undergraduate programming.”

The fellowship is named in honor of former SUNY Chancellor and SUNY Empire State College founder Ernest Boyer.
