Kellie Roe is a person in long-term recovery, and what that means is she hasn’t had a drink or drug since February 6, 1995. As a result of her recovery from substance-use disorder, she is a wife, a mother, and executive director of Second Chance Opportunities, Inc. (SCO).
Second Chance Opportunities, Inc. is a local not-for-profit founded by people in recovery in 2001, bridging the gap between treatment services and creating a life centered in recovery. We do that by providing housing, employment, and supportive services that matter.
Under Roe’s leadership, Second Chance Opportunities has seen a tripling in growth over the last three years, with no end in sight. SCO currently holds 45 janitorial contracts with 114 employees, 97 percent of whom are people in recovery from substance use disorder.
Roe lives in Albany, New York, with her husband Brian, her dogs Otis and Gus, and two cats, Bruno and Miss Kitty. She has a passion for showing people in early recovery that not only is recovery possible, we get to create a life beyond our wildest dreams.
