Albany, NY — The New York Municipal Clerks Institute (NYMCI) at the Rockefeller Institute of Government is now accepting applications for Certified Municipal Clerk training to take place July 15-18 at the Rockefeller Institute in Albany.
The training is open to city, town, and village clerks; deputy clerks; clerks of county legislative boards; and other municipal officials who seek professional development. The four-day session will offer 32 credit hours toward the 120 required to become a Certified Municipal Clerk from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC).
“This is an excellent opportunity for New York’s municipal officials to fulfill their professional development requirements and stay up to date on the latest practices in government administration,” said Jim Malatras, president of the Rockefeller Institute of Government. “Municipal clerks are often the first place that the public interacts with government. It’s critical that they remain well trained and well prepared to meet the needs of their communities.”
NYMCI is a cooperative effort of the Rockefeller Institute of Government, the New York State Town Clerks Association, the New York State Association of City and Village Clerks, the New York State Association of Clerks of County Legislative Boards, the New York Conference of Mayors, and the Association of Towns of the State of New York. It is approved as a training institute by the IIMC.
To receive a Certified Municipal Clerk designation, clerks must fulfill a two-year IIMC membership requirement and sustain membership to maintain the designation.
NYMCI will also offer a Master Municipal Clerk (MMC) training in the near future.
