Allison Volkman is the executive director at the national nonprofit, Scrubs Addressing the Firearm Epidemic (SAFE). SAFE’s mission is to ensure that all healthcare providers are equipped with skills and evidence-based knowledge to advise their patients, communities, and legislators on firearm use and ownership to prevent injuries and deaths.

Allison joined the firearm injury prevention workspace after a two-decade career in nonprofit management and fundraising as a campaign organizer on staff with Doctors for America in 2019. She joined SAFE in 2023 and believes the solution to firearm injury and death is through education and public health-driven communication. Allison is a thought leader and a change maker, and SAFE’s 70+ chapters across the country have been strengthened by her experience and support.
