Albany, NY — Rockefeller Institute of Government President Jim Malatras and Assistant Director for Policy and Research Katie Zuber discussed the Institute’s in-depth, long-term study of the opioid epidemic as keynote speaskers at the annual conference of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Providers of New York State (ASAP) in Syracuse, New York, on September 25.

The presentation continued the Institute’s statewide forum series addressing the crisis, which builds on the Stories from Sullivan project, an ongoing study of the opioid epidemic in rural Sullivan County, New York.

In the presentation and question-and-answer session, Malatras and Zuber discussed the Institute’s unique approach to the research, patterns of opioid prescription rates, the challenges faced by rural communities, and barriers to effective treatment and recovery.

The presentation and a full video of the session are now available here.
