The Rockefeller Institute and the AI & Society Research Center are seeking proposals for an afternoon gathering of policymakers, practitioners, and researchers working in the field of artificial intelligence
Forum will take place on April 23 at the Rockefeller Institute of Government in Albany, New York
The Rockefeller Institute of Government and the University at Albany’s AI & Society Research Center are examining how artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping society and the policy questions that follow from its development and use. As interest in AI policy and governance grows, there is a pressing need for thoughtful exchange among those conducting research, those advancing policy and those working in practice. This forum is designed to support that exchange by connecting technical understanding, everyday applications, and emerging policy perspectives. The aim is to foster relationships and conversations that can inform thoughtful and actionable approaches to AI policy over time.
We particularly welcome proposals that address intersections among AI research, use, and policy in areas such as:
- Healthcare
- Education
- State and local government
- Ethics & social impact (e.g., ownership, privacy, accountability, equity, and public or environmental impacts as they relate to any of the above domains)
This half-day, in-person event will include two panel discussions and graduate student poster presentations. The forum will run on Thursday, April 23, from noon to 4:30 p.m. Completed proposals are due Tuesday, February 3, 2026. Full panel submissions should include a panel title, paper abstracts, and a short biographical summary for each panelist. Selected presenters will be notified by March 1.
Submitting a proposal indicates a commitment that at least one author will attend and present in person at the Rockefeller Institute of Government in Albany, NY.
Please direct all questions regarding this call for proposals to Rockefeller Institute Director of Research Laura Rabinow.
