The Fellowship will take place in the spring 2026 semester and is open to SUNY and CUNY graduate students

Fellows will work with experts at the Institute on Immigrant Integration Research and Policy to assess immigrant integration policy, organize educational forums, produce policy briefs, and analyze and compile data to fill research gaps

Albany, NY — The Institute on Immigrant Integration’s Research & Policy (III-RP) at the Rockefeller Institute of Government is seeking candidates for its Fellowship on Immigrant Integration. Four graduate fellows will be selected to participate in conducting research and policy analysis at III-RP.

The goal of the graduate Fellowship is to prepare the next generation of researchers, practitioners, and policymakers for careers in the field of integration of foreign-born Americans.

The Fellowship will provide an opportunity to graduate students to deepen their understanding of (a)the contextual factors that have the most/ least influence on integration outcomes, (b) the impact of local, state, and federal policies on integration of foreign-born New Yorkers, and (c) models of integrating immigrants in the economic, social, and civic fabric of communities.

Fellows on Immigrant Integration will spend the spring 2026 semester working alongside researchers, practitioners, and policymakers engaging in a wide range of activities including collecting data to fill the knowledge gaps on immigrant integration; producing policy and research briefs that analyze determinants of immigrant integration and their policy implications; and convening education programs to disseminate research findings and best practices in immigrant integration in the state and around the nation.

The Fellowship is an intensive semester-long program from January 2026 through May 2026. Fellows will work 20 hours per week from Monday through Thursday at III-RP. A stipend of $6,000 will be awarded to each fellow during the semester. Fellows conduct their work virtually and work closely with III-RP staff. Only graduate students enrolled full-time in a SUNY or CUNY graduate program are eligible to apply.

  • Completion of at least 12 credit hours of graduate coursework
  • Full-time enrollment in a SUNY or CUNY graduate school
  • A minimum of 3.0 GPA
  • Demonstrated interest in immigrant integration
  • At least 3 years of experience in a professional or volunteer capacity
  • Demonstrated quantitative and/or qualitative research analysis skills
